NFC is the acronym for "Near Field Communication" which enables contactless communication. Microchips with an antenna are integrated into NFC cards, which contain information that can be read easily and quickly with a smartphone or tablet with NFC.

The NFC Mifare Desfire EV2 2K cards can be programmed with a mobile app for the mobile phone or with a special NFC writer for the computer. There are apps and software for every operating system and most mobile phones.

All NFC Mifare Desfire EV2 2K cards are inherently rewritable. Theoretically, NFC cards can be used indefinitely. Depending on the manufacturer, the lifespan is between 20 and 50 years and can be rewritten between 10,000 and 100,000 times. Some NFC cards can also be locked after programming so that rewriting is no longer possible.
 
NFC technology has a frequency of 13.56 MHz and is the only RFID technology compatible with mobile phones with NFC. NFC cards, as the name suggests, have a short range. This is determined by the reader and is usually between 1 cm and 10 cm.

The NFC card must be selected based on its field of application. The primary consideration is which reader the card is to be used with and in which environment. NFC cards do not require a battery or power supply, as this is provided by the magnetic field of the reader.
